Soundcloud Training

Hi there keen Podcast Presenter, We are really excited to welcome you to the world of podcasting.  We could use any number of sites to host our files, including podbean, Libsyn, mixcloud or the one we use Soundcloud (www.soundcloud.com) So we can make sure that everyone can access and utilise the main BayFM Soundcloud site, we have set up a BayFM Soundcloud Training Site.  If you know what you are doing, here’s what do do in a list below.  If any part of the list is unclear, get in touch and we will find a mentor to guide you through the process.  Once you do the task, you will be given access to the BayFM Soundcloud site. Even if you aren’t sure, log in and have a go yourself. You’ll probably figure it out. If you get stuck, or just need some help understanding the process, get in touch and we’ll find a mentor for you. Here’s the task, which is exactly what you’d have to do on our main site.
  • Prepare a trial file at an appropriate sample rate, properly edited
  • This doesn’t need to be very long at all, just for the exercise, but make it good quality.
  • Don’t use an entire track of music (on our main site this is permissible due to APRA payments, but not here)
  • Save the file in  .mp3 format
  • Prepare your file name
  • Prepare your short description
  • Prepare your metatags
  • Prepare an image for upload that goes with your file
  • Make sure it is square and less than 2MB
  • Log in to www.soundlcoud/bayfm-training-site
  • User email is broadcasting@bayfm.org
  • Password is upload999
  • Upload your sound file
  • Upload your image file
  • Name your track
  • Fill in the short description
  • Fill in the metatags
  • Set the file to no downloads
  • Create a playlist in your name
  • Place your uploaded file in that playlist
  • Copy the iframe embed code for the file, as if you were going to put it in a WordPress site
  • Log out
  • Send an email to Broadcast Manager with a link to your file and the embed code
